Calling all journalism students!

The Centre for Democracy and Human Rights of the organisation People in Need Czech Republic is looking for motivated students of journalism (and other related fields) to join its project: Resilient Media - New Generation which starts in February 2024!

About the project: We aim to choose the best students from all over Moldova to participate in a year-long programme to build their skills in storytelling, fact-checking and content creation.

Eligibility: All university students with an interest in developing their journalism skills are eligible to apply.

What do we offer?

  • A one-day training in Chisinau with established journalists
  • Post-training mentorship by established journalists
  • 200 EUR to fund your journalism project
  • Opportunity to publish selected works in Moldovan media
  • Opportunity to do a one-month internship at an established newsroom in Moldova
  • 150 EUR stipend to cover your work expenses during the internship

What to do?

  • Submit your idea of an interesting media content piece - this can be anything from news coverage to a long-read or a video reportage.
  • You can participate either by yourself, or you can pair up with a classmate (three people per group maximum).
  • Focus on the following topics: democracy, human rights, civil society, media literacy, disinformation, EU accession process.

Application: Please apply by filling out our questionnaire by the 31st of March 2024.

You will be informed about the selection process by the 5th of April 2024.

Timeline:

March 2024 - Selection of participants

April 2024 - Workshop on developing your media ideas with experienced journalists

May-August 2024 - Implementing your journalism project

May-August 2024 - Mentoring by experienced journalists

July-August 2024 - Publishing of selected works in Moldovan media

September-November 2024 - Internship opportunity in Moldovan newsrooms
